What are the benefits of regenerative travel & tourism?

Regenerative travel is a term you may have heard or read somewhere. It has been growing in usage when people talk about traveling in a way that helps the planet. But what does it mean and what can you do?

We like to think of regenerative travel as the next step in our sustainable travel journey. Sustainability is about making sure that the resources we enjoy today will still be available for the generations that follow; regeneration is about making sure that what we do now feeds back into the system from which we benefit. It’s about being proactive and intentional.

How do we work

100% volunteer basis. Contact us (503)355-8108 to get involved!

Fostering strong, open, inclusive and cohesive relationships with stakeholders that value our history, natural resources, and thoughtful development with the future in mind.

We are part of a national network entitled Main Street America; formed to improve small town quality of life and to invigorate Main Street business district economic vitality.

Historic Rockaway Main Street mission is to enhance and preserve the beauty and heritage of our small coastal community through dedicated efforts honoring its historical significance for present and future generations.

This grass roots, preservation-based economic development approach has been successful using the time-tested Four-Point Approach to downtown revitalization developed by Main Street America which includes:

  • Sustainable Organization
  • Effective Promotion
  • Quality Design
  • Economic Vitality

The Promotions Committee organizes and runs several events and projects annually.

Our Design Committee works on projects to enhance our downtown including murals, street banners, bike racks, new fixtures, signage and launching our Historic Walking Tour brochure.

The Ecotourism Committee encourages sustainable tourism.

They coordinate SOLVE clean-ups and Days of Service helping to protect our natural surroundings and outdoor recreation.

These initiatives are planned and executed exclusively by volunteers; please join us!
